WNBA Commissioner's Cup Standings 2021

WNBA Commissioner’s Cup Standings

Welcome to the 2021 WNBA Commissioner’s Cup Standings!

The WNBA is debuting a new in-season competition in 2021 called the Commissioner’s Cup. If you haven’t heard of it or don’t fully understand how it works, we created a simple guide to help you learn what it is.

The modern WNBA doesn’t use a conference alignment to determine playoff seeding or matchups, but it used to. The Commissioner’s Cup reverts back to that geographical separation, splitting the 12-team league into two conferences of six to compete for a spot in the competition’s championship. Ten of each team’s regular season games in the first half of the season will be against their conference foes – one home, one away – and those games will double as Commissioner’s Cup contests.

The team with the best winning percentage from each conference at the end of those 10 games will play in Phoenix on Aug. 12 to determine which squad will come away with the Commissioner’s Cup trophy and $500,000 prize.

Each team has officially concluded its 10 Commissioner’s Cup games, which means we know who will match up on Aug. 12 for the first-ever WNBA Commissioner’s Cup championship game: the Connecticut Sun and Seattle Storm.
