Video: USA Basketball 1-on-1 Challenge

The NBA’s YouTube channel released a roughly two-minute video of four USA Basketball players playing one-on-one at the national training camp in Las Vegas.

On Tuesday, the NBA’s YouTube channel released a video montage of one-on-one battles among Jayson Tatum, De’Aaron Fox, Jaylen Brown and Bam Adebayo at the USA Basketball Training Camp in Las Vegas.

The roughly two-minute video does an excellent job showcasing the level of skill these players truly possess.

Every shot drops. Each move works. All footwork is fluid. Think your fadeaway jump shot is good? Well, it isn’t, at least not compared to these guys.

Did the bricks, travels and turnovers get edited out? Most certainly. I don’t think any four of these players, or any players in the world, are good enough to never miss like they do in this video. But some of the shots they make even bring out a verbal reaction from others spectating, who you have to assume are used to seeing high-level basketball players do some difficult things.

And for the most part, the defense is as good as you could reasonably ask. They just make tough shots anyway.

If you want to see some of the best players in the world hit fadeaway, pull-up mid-range jumpers over some of the other best players in the world, watch this video. If it bothers you to watch anything in vertical video, move along. There’s is nothing horizontal about this clip.

The Spin on USA Basketball Training Camp

USA Basketball is currently in the middle of its training camp, held at Mendenhall Center at UNLV, ahead of the 2019 FIBA World Cup, which will start Aug. 31 and run until Sept. 15. Daily practices began Monday and ended Thursday, with a USA Blue-USA White exhibition game, incorporating players on the World Cup training and USA Select teams, tonight at 10 p.m. EST at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas serving as the camp’s exclamation point.

Head coach Gregg Popovich, who took over the position in 2017 to replace Mike Krzyzewski, and assistants Steve Kerr, Lloyd Pierce and Jay Wright have been on hand, as well as Jeff Van Gundy and Mark Few, who are serving as the head and assistant coaches, respectively, for the 2019 USA Basketball Select Team.

The roster for the Select Team includes Jarrett Allen, Marvin Bagley III, Mikal Bridges, Jalen Brunson, John Collins, Pat Connaughton, De’Aaron Fox, Joe Harris, Jonathan Issac, Jaren Jackson Jr., Mitchell Robinson, Derrick White and Trae Young.
