Baylor basketball has not been to the Final Four since the Truman administration, and no one involved with the program now remembers 1950.

Baylor Basketball Aims at First Final Four Since the Truman Administration

The whole international pandemic thing that’s going down forced the 2020 March Madness to be cancelled. Or so you thought.

The NCAA is skipping this year’s tournament at all levels, but /r/CollegeBasketball has sponsored its own alternative Men’s Division I tournament: Reddit March Madness. Streamed exclusively on YouTube and executed with a college basketball video game from almost 15 years ago, this year’s March Madness is sure to be unpredictable and full of really dumb turnovers.

Nothing But Nylon is providing the exclusive* coverage of the event from the bedroom of our headquarters. Don’t miss any of the real* quotes and bone-breaking analysis that you’ll only find here because of how exclusive* this content is.

Bears Men’s Basketball Aims at First Final Four in 70 Years

It was 1950 when Baylor basketball was last one of the final four teams standing in men’s college basketball, but with a win Monday in the Elite Eight, 70 years will be the magic number for history to repeat itself.

No one with Baylor basketball remembers the Truman administration, let alone the last time the program was in the Final Four.

“There were presidents before Obama?” sophomore guard Matthew Mayer asked, innocently.

When I informed him that there have been presidents since the country began in 1776, he couldn’t believe what I was telling him.

“Whoa…” he sat back, astonished to find out the world existed before his birth. “So like, there have been a lot of presidents then?”

Yes, 45 in total and 43 before Barack Obama, I told him. I chose to end the interview there.

While head coach Scott Drew is old enough to remember a few presidents before Obama, he was still born 20 years after Baylor made its last national semifinals run. He said he doesn’t care about the history, though. He’s in it for one thing: destruction.

“Whether past Baylor basketball teams have been able to take over the world or not does not impact my ability to spread murder and famine across the globe,” he said. “Destruction has always been my end game. I will achieve it, whether Harry Truman is president or not.”

Baylor will take on No. 3 seed Seton Hall in the East Regional Final in Charlotte on Monday at 5:30 p.m. EST. Be sure to follow along with Nothing But Nylon’s comprehensively exclusive* coverage of the 2020 Reddit March Madness.
